Archer played catch-and-Throw (ball) yesterday. It's great turn taking experience. He giggled as he played.

Today is not a good day for Alpha. He pushed a girl at the playground, claiming that she doesn't belong to his preschool, so she should not be there. He was timed out by the teacher.

At dinner last night, Alpha decided to write our names out. We spelt them
for him and he wrote them done. He didn't know how to write some of the
letters and we taught him. After writing in English, he wanted to write a
Chinese story. He asked Alan to make dotted lines for him to trace.

I heard Archer saying "sik" tonight when Alan held a piece of snack in from of him. "sik" is the Chinese word for eat. Later in the evening, just before going to bed, Archer wanted his milk so badly that he kept saying "sik" "sik" "sik" without any prompting from us. This is his first request in word without prompting.

Xy-phone

Tuesday morning, I took Archer to Jill's (speech therapy). He did very well. He said xy-phone (xylophone) once. Good eye contact and prolonged attention.

After work, I took Archer to a paint and play class (every Tue at 6:15-7:15 pm). Archer enjoyed it. He saw a xylophone same as Jill's at the community centre, and said xy-phone again!

Alpha is to be a rock star these 2 days. He saw that in Barney's video. Because rock stars have "sparkly stuff" near their eyebrows, so Alpha wanted me to stamp the end of his eyebrows with Miney Mouse stamp. Because rock stars have make up, so he wanted a stamp print on each of his cheek too. Yes, he wore 4 stamps on his face all day.

Both children and I are sick. Didn't get much sleep last night. I believe I woke up every hour to make sure that Alpha had his blanket on, or his temperature was alright, or to verbally comfort Alpha that I was there with him. At 6 am, he said in English, mommy, I need some milk. Told him that I need to go over to 3655 to get some. He said he would wait for me. After the ordeal, when he laid down in bed again, he said, mommy, you really love me. How sweet!

Last night, Archer wanted to eat popcorn. Lisa covered some popcorn with her hand. Archer took a toy, shuffled it in Lisa's hand, and then went on to take the popcorn away. He was making an exchange, just like what we do to him when we want to remove something from his hand.

Archer waved goodbye to me tonight. It's for sure now that he knows how to wave goodbye.

Went to the speech therapist’s this morning. It’s the first time that Archer didn’t cry. When we did a picture exchange for rings, Archer mimicked the word “ring” once. When we did a picture exchange for shapes of a shape sorter, Archer mimicked over 5 times a resemblance of the word “shape”. When we left the therapist’s home, he also waved good-bye. I now suspect that he really mimicked the words “Ye Ye” when he saw grandpa as he came home. This new development is so encouraging that it compensates his recent reduction of attention span.

Archer has his primary assessment at the Sunnyhill Health Centre today. We won't know the result. But I have to say that he did well today. It's a lot of activities that he has to do in order for the psychologist to assess him. He was tired after the assessment, so were Alan and I.

Frightened

I encountered a robbery tonight as I was dining in a McDonald here in Jacksonville. I didn't see the robber came it. When I noticed him, he's robbing the purse of a lady about 4 tables down, and then he ordered a man waiting in line to buy food to give him his watch. He robbed the cash registers and left through the back.
I was safe. I didn't lose anything. The robber didn't even walk over to my side.
The lady who was robbed is dining with her 2 sons, one is 7-8 years old, the other is 3-4 years old. The younger son didn't know what happen, but the elder son is so freightened that about 2 minutes after the robber left he suddenly cried hyterically. I was frightened too, but I can mostly contained myself.
I am thinking, if Alpha or Archer is here, what will I do to protect them? Will Alpha know what happen and be frightened?
I hope that they'll never have to go through this.

Last night I read the Little Mermaid with Alpha. After the story, I asked him whether he would use his vocal cord to exchange for 2 legs. Without thinking, he said no because he already has 2 legs. Then I asked him whether he would use his vocal cord to exchange for a Lamborghinni. He thought hard and looked around my room. Then he said he would use a disposable camera (sitting on my dresser) to exchange for a Lamborghinni. I'm glad that he knows boundaries and limitations: if something is of value to him, he won't make an exchange, even for his favourite car. Hope that once he knows Christ, he would not make an exchange of it with anything.

Alpha started school yesterday. He's tried very hard to contain himself, and the teacher let him go after about 30 minutes, before he actually cried out.
Today, he managed to stay for 1.5 hours, and no tendency to cry at all. Great achievement. In return, he received a "pizza candy" from Grandma.

Labour Day

It is the Labour Day monday today, a public holiday in Canada. Constance, I and Alpha went to the new Factory Outlet on I-5 exit 202, about a 2 hours drive away. Not too crowded. Alpha of course is not interested in shopping, but is attracted by the numerous riding machines around the mall.

We're back by 5:30pm. After dinner, we bring Alpha and Archer to the park. Because it's getting dark and the mosquitoes are coming out, we stay in the park for only about half an hour. When we leave, Archer throws a tantrum because he has not played enough.

In 2 days we'll be taking Alpha and Archer to Europe. You just can't imagine how big a project this is! I guess Constance is already quite stressed. This will be the first trip in many years that we'll need to bring along so many pieces of luggage! Hopefully you'll be able to see many beautiful pictures of our trip here. Stay tune.

Archer heard Alpha blowing into a harmonica and Archer danced. He danced by moving his bum. His action was like sitting down, getting up, sitting down, getting up. I saw it tonight. It was very entertaining.

Alpha doesn't need me much in the last two days. He enjoyed auntie Hei Hei's company. I was told that he was quite gwaai today.
